Football Manager Diary – S2 – November – Andy… No!!!
Tell a friend!
This month I’m gonna go back to basics, and at least for the first 2 matches Im going to start Carroll and Crouch. Vydras been awesome, but he also hasnt scored in 8 matches.
Fixtures look like this
1st November 2014 – West Ham (7th) vs Swansea (16th)
Odds – West Ham 5-4 (fav) – Draw 11-5 – Swansea 7-4
Past Meetings – Won 1, Drawn 1.
Valdes makes a good save from Commons. On the stroke of half time Carroll pressures a defender and steals the ball but Vorm saves. Thats it for the 1st half!
We’ve had 7 shots to their 3, but they are edging possession 52-48
In the 2nd half some great harrying from Bradley see’s him steal the ball, he then plays in Crouch, who chips the ball over to Carroll to score! They are back!
Shortly after Bony is put in by Hernandez and Swansea equalise. We start dominating, and I see Swansea go defensive so I go attacking. Swansea sitting back is their downfall, our players pass it round and it ends with Rat smashing in.
With 5 minutes to go I take Crouch, Carroll and Ravel off for Zaha, Juanmi and Vydra, and the game plays out!
West Ham 2-1 Swansea
Carroll (53) Rat (74) – Bony (59)
League Position – 6th
Match thoughts – If I hadnt conceeded that would have been probably my best performance of the season. Look at those stats, I’m drooling
Coleman is out for 3 weeks after pulling a hamstring
Spurs sack Hiddink. Two seasons, two sackings.
9th November 2014 – Southampton (12th) vs West Ham (7th)
Odds – Southampton 5-4 (fav) – Draw 11-5 – West Ham 7-4
Past meetings – Beat them twice. Osvaldo has been a handful every time.
Southampton dominate possession but there isn’t a single highlight in the half. We’ve had 5 shots to their 1.
Davis breaks the deadlock with the 1st highlight scoring after Tomkins decides to rush the ball and Davis is left free to score. I take Chadli off for Zaha. Carroll plays in Crouch but the shot is saved. Crouch should have scored, so I haul him and Ravel off for Vydra and Juanmi, but as we push Southampton get a second through Osvaldo and Bradley gets sent off for protesting it was offside. WTF
With 89 minutes on Carroll hits a header at the keeper, misses the rebound but it falls to Zaha and he gets it in! Carroll then gets another chance and hits the keeper again. He could have equalised!
Southampton 2-1 West Ham
Davis (50) Osvaldo (87) – Zaha (90) Bradley sent off (87)
League position – 7th
Match thoughts – look at those stats. What the fuck. How different can 2 games be. And how in fuck does a player get a second yellow for protesting
Crouchy you have 1 last fucking chance
Ok a FEW more chances.
23rd November 2014 – Cardiff (8th) vs West Ham (9th)
Odds – Cardiff 5-4 (fav) – Draw 11-5 – West Ham 7-4
Past Meetings – Drew both matches
Medel fires a shot at the keeper from range as Cardiff dominate the early part. With 21 minutes on the clock Zaha gets our first shot and scores, running through then cutting inside. Vydra then hits the post. Valdes makes a great save from Austin just before the half ends.
They are dominating, 54-46 on posession but 7 shots to our 2. Crouchy is making a lot of mistakes tho. FFS.
We get an attack and Vydra gets through 1v1, but Hudson brings him down outside the box and gets sent off. Shortly after Zaha strikes from range, the keeper saves but Crouchy is offside on the rebound. I bring on Seman Noble and Morrison on for Crouch Chadli and Schneiderlin.
Austin comes close with a few chances, and Cardiffs ten men are dominating. They pass it round then back to their keeper, and his pass goes straight to Vydra and he runs it back and scores his first for the club and his first in 10 hours! What a goal keeping error!
Just as I think its over tho theres an error at the other end, Tomkins passes short back to Valdes
Thankfully nothing else happens!
Cardiff 1-2 West Ham
Hudson sent off (62) Austin (88) – Zaha (23) Vydra (74)
League Position – 6th
Match Thoughts – Jesus got away with that one Really need to work out what I need to do, one match goes well, then without changing anything things go tits up.
29th November 2014 – West Ham (8th) vs Chelsea (3rd)
Odds -West Ham 11-5 – Draw 11-5 – Chelsea Evens (fav)
Past meetings – Beat us 1-0 twice.
Ive pulled my trousers down and Im ready for a bumming.
Rat gets an early free kick from way out, he shoots and Courtis punches it straight to Zaha who scores. We’re actually dominating and Zaha get another chance when Coleman steals the ball and plays an amazing cross field ball that leaves him 1v1 but Courtis saves. A minute before half time Chelsea get their first shot – a corner gets cleared to Terry on the edge of the box, and he lays it off to Lampard who smashes in.
At half time we’ve got 55% possession, and 7 shots to their 1, but its 1-1.
In the 2nd half we start well again, Zaha gets another chance but is saved. Valdes makes a worldie save from a Eto header as Chelsea start to come into the match. Willian comes right into the game, and starts peppering the goal, getting Chelsea back to 7 shots to out 8, jesus.
Noble and Zaha come on for Chadli and Jones. Noble makes a real difference, slowing the game, and gets us back in the game. With 8 minutes left Luiz takes out Vydra, and picks up a second yellow. Even with 10 men tho we cant take advantage, but fuck, I’ll take a point.
West Ham 1-1 Chelsea
Zaha (6) – Lampard (44) Luiz Sent off (83)
League position – 6th
Match thoughts – Fuck me, thats a great end to the month. Should have really won it as well. Ach, Im buzzing now.
The fans are happy too!
