Football Manager Diary – February 2016 – Who is the mystery signing?
So its Feb, we’re top of the league, and in the knockouts of the Champions League. Our team is set and looks great, but we did make one mystery signing at the end of the transfer window.
A signing whos contract was almost up, with just 6 months left on his contract, for a fee of 1.5 million after 50 league games. A guy who has won Champions Leagues, World Cups, who has won everything there is to win. One of the best players in his position
Who is he?
He Xavi
Couldnt resist.
With him signed, Asimiah goes out on loan to Blackburn.
Heres how the league table looks
And the fixtures. So heres the first of 5Â matches in a row at home!
3-3-2016 – West Ham vs Leeds – FA Cup
18 mins in a cross from Rafinha finds Chadli and he shoots and it takes a massive deflection of Barnett to fly in! We dominate the rest of the match but it takes till the last 10 mins to seal the match, a classic West Ham goal of Rat crossing a corner to Hangeland to head in
West Ham 2-0 Leeds
Barnett own goal (19), Hangeland (81)
We get drawn at home to Huddersfield which means we now have 6 home matches in a row!
Schneiderlin picked up an injury, and is out for 2 weeks. Who cares, we’ve got Xavi
6-2-2016 – West Ham (1st) vs West Brom (8th)
Xavi debut!
Just a minute in a cross is deflected, falls to Nedelev and he smashes in. We dominate with Hangeland and Vydra coming close. In the 2nd half Xavi gets on the assist charts, crossing for Mertesacker to head in a corner.
West Ham 2-0 West Brom
Nedelev (2) Mertesacker (65)
League Position – 1st
Xavi gets man of the match. Owned. Its also 310 minutes since Valdes scored.
Bradley is out for a week with an injury. Glad we bought Xavi!
Liverpool draw, so we’re now 8 points in front with them having a game in hand.
Our players are dominating the stats too
Ive just realised Valdes is getting 30k for each of those clean sheets lol
9-2-2016 – West Ham (1st) vs Spurs (6th)
Pre match while selecting the team I accidentally click to proceed to match without any changes, which means I play a 76% fit Michael Bradley. Oops.
Spurs dominate the shot count in the first half, despite us getting more posession. In the 2nd half we start better, with Rafinha on for Bradley hitting the bar. Morrison and Carroll come on, and with 10 minutes to go a long ball is flicked on by Carroll, Morrison chases and stabs past the keeper! Its undeserved. In injury time Spurs get the equaliser they deserve, when Lamela cuts in and fires home.
West Ham 1-1 Spurs
Morrison (81) – Lamela (92)
League Position – 1st
Disappointing. But….
LOLERPOO
13-2-2016 – West Ham vs Huddersfield – FA Cup
After the disappointment of the last performance we dominate the first half, racking up 9 shots till just before half time when Xavi’s corner is headed in by Mertesacker! At half time we’ve had 10 shots to their 2 and the result doesnt look in doubt. However Huddersfield pick up in the 2nd, and with 20 mins to go the shot count is 10-7. Jesus. I make a few changes and shore things up and we see out the win.
West Ham 1-0 Huddersfield
Mertesacker (43)
The draw is pretty kind
Next up tho, its our 1st leg Champions league knockout.
16-2-2016 – West Ham vs Schalke – Champs League 2nd Round
We’re favourites!
Chadli dances past 3 and shoots wide. Its the only decent chance of a poor 1st half. At the break on comes ANDY
Its Andy who makes the breakthrough, a ball forward is headed on by Carroll and it leaves Nedelev 1v1, and he scores! A great win!
West Ham 1-0 Schalke
Nedelev (64)
GET THE FUCK IN
Next up is our final home match of the run
20-2-2016 – West Ham (1st) vs Reading (14th)
An even match, but Reading take the lead just before half time through Stanislas. In the second we start coming back into it, Boyata hits the bar from a corner, then Derik gives us the equaliser from another. I throw on men to try and swing things, but with a minute to go its another corner that sorts things – Vydra heads, its saved, and Boyata smashes in the rebound.
West Ham 2-1 Reading
Derik (65), Boyata (89) – Stanislas (42)
League Position – 1st
Liverpool continue their dismal run, drawing again. They’ve dropped to 4th, with the two Manchester clubs now chasing us.
Final match of the month against Newcastle, we’ve won 2 and drawn 3 against them, so its a decent record. However Harrys round
He slags me off, saying he knows how to beat us. Cunt.
27-2-2016 – Newcastle (8th) vs West Ham (1st)
17 mins in Cabaye runs through 1v1 and Boyata brings him down! Its a pen and a yellow for Boyata. Cabaye steps up…. and VALDES SAVES!!
At the other end Carroll heads just wide, then Cabaye makes up for his miss by smashing in from an angle. Krul is in form, and saves from Nedelev, then Hangeland hits the post from the corner. At half time I tell the boys to come on.
6 mins in Newcastle double their lead, Cabaye gets down the right, crosses and Sosa volleys in. Fucks sake.
I change to a 31222 but its to no avail, Poocastle see out the win.
Newcastle 2-0 West Ham
Cabaye (40), Sosa (51)
League Position – 1st
Fucking twat. You’ll pay for this Redknapp.
A disappointing end to the month. Cunts.
The board are happy
Despite the Newcastle result, we’re still looking good in the league but City and United are roping us in
Heres next months fixtures. Can we do the impossible?
