Football Manager Diary S1 – January – Loans, loans and more fricking loans.

Football Manager 2014 LogoWe’re still in the FA Cup, and will face Stoke in a big money clash this month. We’re also still in the FA Trophy, and we’re top of the league – tho we do have only a 6 point lead now with a game in hand.

The one worry is the finances. Our wage bill stands at 18k, which is 1k above where it should be.

104 - Two Signings 105 - Templeman 106 - Mozika

Templeman is on £90 a week, and can fill in as AM if needed. Im happy with him. Mozika on the other hand looks a real gem. He is probably going to take Irie-Bi’s DM spot. Its a relief just to have 2 players who can play there to be honest.

Alefe Santos leaves us for a fee of £14.77k.

We start the month with the HUGE match

4th January 2014 – Stoke vs Bristol Rovers

Lets look at the comparison line ups

107 - Stoke Formations

Fuck, I’m so scared.

108 - Odds

10 minutes in we play it round, then White draws 2 defenders, which creates space for Smith whos shot is tipped round the post! Fuck!

28mins in Stoke get their first chance, a long free kick is thrown in the box and Walters gets it, and hits the post! A minute before half time Stoke take the lead, a cross from Sidwell headed in by Walters.

FFS. I thought we were gonna hold them for 45 minutes.

Into the 2nd half and Stoke are buzzing. Brek Shea forces a good save from Arnold 3 mins in. I throw a few subs on, including Templeman for his debut. The match has gone quiet tho, and Stoke are happy to take the 1-0

Stoke 1-0 Bristol Rovers
Walters (45)

109 - Stoke Stats

Cant complain about the posession Half the ball in a match against a premiership team is great. Sparky knows it too

7th January 2014 – Macclesfield (15th) vs Bristol Rovers (1st)

Templeman is making his full debut.

10mins in Templeman plays in Guillaume and he scores! Brunt misses a good chance. Its all Bristol, and we strike over and over at thir goal but to no avail. At half time I bring White on for Guillaume, and drop Templeman to the AM position.

He creates an early chance, playing in Brunt who shoots at the keeper. Macclesfield get their first decent shot, but Arnold saves. Templeman then plays Harrold in, his shot is saved but White grabs the rebound to make it 2-0!

Macclesfield 0-2 Bristol Rovers
Guillaume (10), White (66)
League Position -1st

Another easy win. We had 21 shots to their 10.

11th January 2014 – Bristol Rovers vs Aldershot – FA Trophy

27 mins in we have the lead, a corner is cleared to the edge of the box, Guillaume plays it to Brunt, he backheels back to Guillaume and he scores! Aldershot equalise 5 minutes before half time with a strong shot from the edge of the box.

Into the 2nd half and we get a penalty when Smith is hauled down. Brown takes, and scores the penalty. 2-1 to us. Arnold makes a great save from one of their strikers, then we go up the other end and Guillaume plays in Templeman who scores!

Another dominating performaces – 18 shots to their 3, but only 4 on target.

Bristol Rovers 3-1 Aldershot
Guillaume (28), Brown (pen 68), Templeman (78) – Williams (42)

Through to the next round!

14th January 2014 – Sailsbury (18th) vs Bristol Rovers (1st) – Sktill Premier

10 seconds in and Brunt, White and Guillaume combine and Brunt hits the bar. They look up for this, and on 7 mins Brunt gets down the left and crosses for Guillaume to volley home. White then hits the bar, then shoots wide after Brunt puts him through twice. Its all Bristol, their keeper in fine form as he saves from Guillaume.

Into the second half we’re trying to get the second goal but to no avail. Templeman comes on for White as we push, then Irie Bi gives away a pen with 10 mins to go and Salisbury equalise!!! In the dying seconds as we push McChrystal loses the ball in defence and their striker goes through 1v1 and Arnold pulls off a save to get us a point!

Salisbury 1-1 Brisol Rovers
Gethins (pen 82) – Guillaume (7)
League Position – 1st

111 - stats

I let a couple of the fringe players go on frees, it costs me a few k.

18th January 2014 – Bristol Rovers (1st) vs Nuneaton (3rd)

We’re 13 points ahead of them, with 2 games in hand.

Brunt shoots wide early, then Guillaume shoots at the keeper. On the 15 minute mark a long ball finds White and he takes a touch and curls it in! Mozika doubles the lead just before half time, smashing in after a long free kick finds him. White goes off injured, so Templeman comes on at half time. Into the 2nd half we win a pen and Brown ends up smashing it in.

Bristol Rovers 3-0 Nuneaton
White (15), Mozika (43), Brown (pen 54)
League Position – 1st

I make another 2 loan signings

112 - Chantler

He’s better than my current left back Brown, and adds some depth.

113 - Bradley

Bradleys really good, he’s Welsh, and my usual right back Michael Smith has been suffering with injuries lately.

Gonzalez is back in full training

21st January 2014 – Welling (17th) vs Bristol Rovers (1st)

Guillaumes tired, so I play Templeman at the AM slot. Bradley is the only loanee to start of the two new signings.

Templeman gives us the lead scoring from a Brunt cross. Lockyer heads in from a corner to double the lead.

Int the 2nd half we pressure, White in particular spurning a few chances til Bradley caps his debut by smashing in from the edge of the box. Welling grab a goal back, but straight from kick off we attack and Templeman restores the 3 goal lead.

Welling 1-4 Bristol Rovers
Templeman (15, 79), Lockyer (45), Bradley (68)
League Position – 1st

Harrold requests to leave, and I say I’m happy to let him go. No ones interested in him tho.

Its time for a Reid-watch. How is the man who Oxford chose over us doing

114 -Reid

Ooo he’s started droppping down the table. We could face that bastard next season

And one last loan signing

115 - Hinds

Theres no way I can bring in depth through the transfer market. Hind is a good back up.

25th January 2014 – Bristol Rovers (1st) vs Wrexham (12th)

9 mins in Smith gives us the lead, a good move finds him on the overlap and he scores from the angle. Gonzalez puts Sinnott through and his shot is saved.

Into the second half its all us. Parkes heads wide from a corner then on 67 minutes Wrexham get an equaliser with a long ball finding their striker and he smashes past Arnold – but its disallowed. Luckily with them starting to look like they might equalise we have my leathal 3 upfront

Leathal 3

After that they combine again and Brunt plays to White and he scores.

Bristol Rovers 3-0 Wrexham
Smith (8) Brunt (69) White (82)
League Position – 1st

28th January 2014 – Kidderminister (3rd) vs Bristol Rovers (1st)

We always seem to be playing 3rd place! I give Brunt and White a rest to play Harrold and Templeman.

Its Templeman who give us a 28 minute lead, smashing in after Guillaume puts him through. Its all us in the first half.

Kiddie should equalise in the 2nd half, but Arnold saves well. With 10 mins to go Templeman is put in by Guillaume again, and he scores to seal the win – well till a long ball foes in the box, and the Kidderminster defender kicks it at his partner annd the ball goes in.

Kidderminister 0-3 Bristol Rovers
Templeman (29, 90), Lewis Own goal (90+1)
League Position – 1st

Thats the month done

League is looking great

116 - League

Top scorers by over 26 goals, we’re well on course to score 100 goals this season, conceeded the least in the league, and are on course to hit the 100 point mark. We’re running away with the league.

MOTM is no suprise either

117 - MOTM

I’m hoping that we made a profit this month with the Stoke game – tho we did release a few players. Lets see what the board say…

118 - Board Jan

Damn. We’re paying out 120k a month on loans which is hitting us.

Oh well, lets get promoted and worry about the money later

  • Phil Evans

Can’t believe you’re letting some of these mug shots slide. Look at Templeman! What a gurning fool!
