Football Manager Diary S2 – December – I dont sign anyone this month. Honest.

Football Manager 2014 Logo

We’re into December and its looking like we might be about to put a good run in.

We have gone 10 games without a loss, and only 1 draw in that entire run, so its a good time to try and turn the screw on our title challenge.

But I have been prone to dabbling in the transfer mare to mixed results. David Twatbag Dunn was a total disaster, and left on a free as quick as he signed. Matt Derbyshire was looking awful, but the signing of Andy Johnson seems to have brought something out in him.

2-12-14 – Cambridge (17th) vs Bristol Rovers (1st)

Derbyshire and Johnson start upfront.

Only a minute in we go behind. Fucks sake.

Sinnott tries to get us back in the game but his shot is saved. Keller then gets down the left and crosses to Lawrence and he pulls it back to Derbyshire to smash in. Then just before half time Lawrence plays Derbyshire in and he crosses for Johnson to tap in!

Into the second half and on the 70 minute mark I bring on Fletcher and Brunt for Johnson and Derbyshire. With 8 minutes to go tho Cambridge get a penalty, and they score to equalise. With seconds left Brunt hits the post, and its a disappointing draw.

We had 18 shots to their 7

Cambridger 2-2 Bristol Rovers
Taylor (1) Cunnington (pen 82) – Derbyshire (29), Johnson (43)
League position – 1st

In mixed news for my enemys, Nick Barmby gets sacked by Swindon and Reid signs a new contract with Oxford.

6-12-14 – Bristol Rovers (1st) vs AFC Wimbledon (6th)

A match against Wimbledon means one man

Johnson gives us the lead after 8 minutes, then on the 20 minute mark he plays in Bradley who hits an unstoppable shot. Lockyer is dealing with Akinfenwa well and puts in a number of crunching tackles on him

At half time its looking a cruise. With half an hour left I bring on Fletcher for Derbyshire, and shortly after that we grab a third through Kellett. Johnson gets a good chance but he misses, then Guthrie heads in a free kick for our 4th

Bristol Rovers 4-0 AFC Wimbledon
Johnson (8), Bradley (21), Kellett (61), Guthrie (78)
League Position – 1st

Next up is the Johnsons Paint south semi final, and I must have totally missed the draw as we’re put against Bristol City. Its the first time we’ve played them

9-12-14 – Bristol Rovers vs Bristol City – Johnstons paint semi final south

Normaly I’d play the reserves, but I cant risk it.

Lawrence puts Derbyshire through, and his shot is well saved. City hit the bar direct from a cross, then at the other end Kellett crosses and a City defender slides it into his own net!

Into the second half and the match has died, but Im not complaining. Brunt comes on for Johnson, then with 12 minutes to go Lockyer heads in a corner to give us a 2-0 lead

We’ve done it!

Bristol Rovers 2-0 Bristol City
Williams own goal (25), Lockyer (78)

We’re in the southern final, who will we face…

249 Johnstons Paint final

WOW. What a showdown. I will take you down Reid.

13-12-14 – Plymouth (21st) vs Bristol Rovers (1st)

Fletcher and Brunt start.

Fletcher gives us the lead after an amazing chipped ball by Atkinson. He has a good chance to make it 2-0 but shoots wide – and then Plymouth equalise after Asante breaks and scores.

Into the second half and Atkinson grabs a goal with a powerful shot from the edge of the box. With seconds left Asante gets through for Plymouth again and he shoots and Arnold tips it onto the post! Thats a match winning save!

Plymouth 1-2 Bristol Rovers
Asante (35) – Fletcher (13), Atkinson (58)
League Position – 1st

For the last few matches Ive totally left the two loanees in the reserves as I wanted to see about the possibility of using just my actual players. I’m loathe to send them away as neither is costing me anything.

20-12-14 – Bristol Rovers (1st) vs Northampton (11th)

Johnson and Derbyshire continue their run as 1st choice. We dominate the early running, and take a 6th minute lead when O’Neil finishes after a cool pass by Derbyshire. Derbyshire then gets a goal himself when a lovely chipped ball by Lawrence puts him 1v1 and he smashes home. Johnson hits the post after going through

At half time O’Neill is shattered so on comes Chantler and Parkes moves to right back. Within a minute of kick off Johnson gets his goal after a through ball from Lawrence. 6 minutes after that we get a 4th, Parkes going through on the overlap and smashing past the keeper. Is he happy?

24 - Parkes

Course he is. Only minutes later we have a 5th, Derbyshire smashing in after a ball from Lawrence. With half an hour left I bring on Brunt and Fletcher for Johnson and Derbyshire. Arnold makes a great save from a rare Northampton attack, but then they score from the corner. With 15 minutes to go Kellett plays an amazing deep cross

250 - Kellett ball

With 2 minutes to go Brunt gets his second after a great throughball from Lawrence again.

Bristol Rovers 7-1 Northampton
O’Neill (7), Derbyshire (14, 56), Johnson (46), Parkes (52) Brunt (76, 88)
League Position – 1st

To finish the month we’ve got 2 games in 3 days

26-12-14 – Bristol Rovers (1st) vs Fleetwood (6th)

We’re a massive 1-6 favourites here. I’m starting Derbyshire and Brunt who both got 2 goals last match

3 minutes in Fleetwood have the lead FFS WHY DID I JUST WRITE WE WERE HEAVY FAVOURITES.

Lawrence tries to get us back in it, hitting the post. Fleetwood press back and hit the bar. We equalise when Kellett breaks and he crosses to Derbyshire who scores. Fleetwood then break and go ahead again through Tubbs. TUBBS?!?!?

We equalise again through Bradley after a great ball by Lawrence. So of course, Fleetwood take the lead through Tubbs again. FUCKS SAKE.

At half time I bring on Johnson for Brunt.

30 seconds in its 4-2 FOR FUCKS SAKE with Hughes getting Fleetwoods 4th. Jacksons had a poor game, and as I prepare to sub him off we get a corner, and he scores from it. Lol. He still gets subbed tho. I throw men forward to try and equalise but Fleetwood hold on

Bristol Rovers 3-4 Fleetwood
Derbyshire (22), Bradley (31), Jackson (65) – Morais (4), Tubbs (30, 42), Hughes (46)
League Position – 1st

I’m so mad

251 - Fury

Bradley picks up a groin strain and is out for 5 weeks

28-12-14 Gillingham (8th) vs Bristol Rovers (1st)

Derbyshire and Johnson start upfront.

Lwarence goes through after a 1-2 with Derbyshire, and his shot is saved but the rebound falls to Johnson who scores. Derbyshire then slips Johnson through and he scores his second.

6 minutes into the second half Gillingham pull one back from a corner. Lawrence has a shot saved, then another which is put out for a corner. From that Parkes restores our 2 goal lead. Johnson has picked up a light injury so I bring on Fletcher, and the team holds on for the win.

Gillingham 1-3 Bristol Rovers
Oshiliaja (52) – Johnson (14, 38), Parkes (65)
League Position – 1st
